Transarea is a peer reviewed journal of interdisciplinary studies published by the School of Civilisation Studies (Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai). The journal publishes empirical and theoretical work spanning disciplines like history, international relations, political science, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, literature, geography, and culture studies to name a few.
The Journal attempts to re-define traditional approaches to area studies by embracing a fluid and inter-connected nature of global regions moving beyond the colonial construct which concocted area studies as a part of its imperial and civilising missions.
It plans to act as a bridge between regions, disciplines, and methodologies to encourage innovative perspectives that offers insights into the complex, interwoven realties of our world. The journal aspires to be recognised as a leading voice in global scholarship in a world where study of regions is not confined by borders.
